About Us
In the same year that the CD (that’s ‘Compact Disc’ for the uninitiated) entered the scene in 1982, something equally pivotal was brewing among the student community in Aotearoa.
Around this time, a group of passionate student unions had the vision of alleviating student poverty by connecting students to job opportunities. This is the origin story of Student Job Search – and it’s one we’re proud to tell. Though we’ve evolved a lot since then, we’ve remained the go-to source for students to find opportunity, and for employers to find talent.
What do we do?
After 40 years of nurturing student potential and supporting employers to flourish, we've become the unshakeable bridge between students and this privileged position allow us to:
Support 20,000+ students to enter the workforce each year
Help business owners succeed by connecting them with talent
Champion tertiary education and a highly skilled workforce
How do we do it?
We offer tailored job opportunities for tertiary students from their first year of study, all the way until two years after they graduate.
We cater to the unique employment needs of the student, whether that’s a casual job to support them throughout their studies, a position on an award-winning grad programme, or a permanent job after graduation.
We partner with employers who can offer high value employment opportunities that nurture student’s potential. Our employers span multiple industries, professions and regions across the country, connecting us to an eclectic mix of household employers, business owners, government professionals, and more.
We’re supported to do this work through the generous support of our primary funder, the Ministry of Social Development, our members, and other partners, and donors.
