We are looking for a mature, confident and reliable person to help our family as we navigate the trickiness of life with a special needs child! Flexibility, patience and kindness are essential - we want someone who will pitch in where needed. Our 13 year old son loves structure and routine and won't readily accept new people - this may mean that for starters you're in the house doing some cleaning or walking the dog, or driving our daughter to her extra curricular activities. In the long term we'd love you to build up a relationship with our children, perhaps take our son swimming, walking in the hills, or to some other activities to vary his routine, but this will take time. If you're looking for a short term role, this probably isn't for you. We are in Halswell and would love to have someone who lives nearby, especially as sometimes we just need help for a couple of hours at a time. School holidays are a time of particular need.
